Getting the most out of the game

Five focused minutes of practice beats thirty minutes of nagging. A few practical pointers for parents and teachers:

  • Start on Easy. A child who experiences early success asks to play again. Move to Medium and Hard only when Easy stops being a challenge.
  • Build a streak, not a marathon. A short daily round builds automatic facts better than a long weekly one. The streak and badge system is designed for this.
  • Pair the game with a guide. Each mode has a teaching guide with worked examples and tips, so the game becomes practice for an idea your child has already met.
  • Use timed sprints for focus. The 30/60/90-second modes are best when a child is alert and wants a challenge — not as the default setting.
  • Play alongside them sometimes. Narrate your thinking out loud: “I’m going to add the ones first.” Modelling the strategy is more useful than praising the answer.
